Kent Archers was created to build a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable archery community within the Agassiz-Harrison Rod & Gun Club. Whether you’re a complete beginner, a recreational shooter, a competitive archer, or a seasoned bowhunter, we invite you to join us as we grow this exciting new program.
Our goal is simple: to create a quality archery program that encourages participation, develops skills, and provides opportunities for archers of all ages and experience levels.
Our Story
Kent Archers is named in recognition of the District of Kent and the community we proudly serve.
Kent Archers is the brainchild of our Archery Directors, Kevin and Randy. Their enthusiasm for the sport reminded us of something important: archery is one of the few activities that can truly be enjoyed by all generations. Grandparents, parents, and children can stand side-by-side on the shooting line, learning and improving together. Once Kevin and Randy got the program up and started, it didn’t take long for Greg, Dave, Jeff and Brandon to jump on board. We’ve got a great team of volunteers.
With that vision in mind, we set out to create a program that focuses on safety, education, skill development, and community involvement.
While our archery division is new, it is built on the strong foundation of the Agassiz-Harrison Rod & Gun Club, an organization that has served outdoor enthusiasts in our region for generations.
A Brief History of Archery
Archery is one of humanity’s oldest skills, dating back thousands of years. Originally used for hunting and survival, the bow became an important tool for sport, competition, and recreation throughout the world.
Today, archery is enjoyed by millions of people and is one of the few sports where participants of different ages and physical abilities can compete and enjoy the activity together. From Olympic target archery to 3D courses, traditional longbows to modern compound bows, archery continues to evolve while maintaining its rich heritage.
